Description
Sometimes it looks different than it actually is. Perception is a tricky thing. Have you ever had someone tell you one thing but you later find out they meant something else? I like to play with this concept when making art. Using some techniques with my camera I am able to make an average scene much more expressive and reflective of actual emotions. While photographing this series I realized I may soon call Charleston "home." I felt like I was really in control of my compass (or Google maps?), beginning to create a life I imaged rather than having it happen to me. This photo represents creating instead of waiting. With the right-to-left motion in this image, clearly the main character here is going in a direction that is against the current. It's easy to choose a normal path that we've always taken, but to get to the next level, usually it will be a bit uncomfortable. You have to be quick on your feet when something goes wrong. Like if you were in a car riding and you found yourself out in the ocean riding a wave, you may wanna get out of that car and swim!! You’re used to driving, but when driving doesn’t work anymore you swim. If this ever happens to you, you’re incredibly welcome.
